Exhaust systems can be dangerous because exhaust contains carbon monoxide that could be deadly if it reaches the passenger area of your car. Carbon monoxide has no color or odor, making it difficult to detect AND lethal. Any damages and even small exhaust leaks can cause these gases to flow into your car and impair your judgement while driving.

Why do Car Batteries Die in the Dead of Winter?

Just when we can least afford it you guessed it…it happens!  You are stuck in freezing weather with a dead car battery.  Winter is a fairly common time for car batteries to die, but you know that.  Even though the hot weather is a real battery killer, for a number of reasons, cold weather is also hard on car batteries.

But, here is the real culprit…temperature extremes.  According to Industrial Battery Products, lead acid battery capacity drops about one-fifth from normal in freezing weather, then goes down to about 50 percent of normal when temperatures sink to about -22 degrees Fahrenheit.  While KC may not experience something THAT extreme it will be bitter cold.

Controlling the Climate.

Is this a new Marvel super hero?  That sounds interesting for sure, but the reference here is to climate control for your vehicle.  This time of year, in the Kansas City area, that is REALLY important!  One of the worst things that can happen is a conked-out heater in your car as you go to the grocery store.

We know that you are aware of the changing road conditions when a KC meteorologist drops a bombshell, but have you had your vehicle’s heating system checked recently?  You may not even be noticing slight changes in your car’s heater.  Maybe it isn’t kicking out those BTU’s with the same force that it used to.
