Flashing — or erasing and reprogramming — your engine’s
computer is a legitimate and legal way to keep a car’s engine control modules
(ECMs) up to date. If your vehicle is
from 1996 or newer this will ensure that the microprocessors in such areas as
the power train and fuel injectors are regulating their systems properly.
How exactly does the process work? When reprogramming an engine computer, a
scanner is attached to the diagnostic port in a car, which is typically inside
the car, beneath the steering wheel.
Then, old programming is erased and replaced with the most up-to-date
software provided by the auto manufacturer.
With progress comes responsibility.
To stay on track, call the A-Team for an appointment to have
your car’s engine computer reprogrammed.
